Grade 9 Math Course Outline 2011-2012
Required Supplies:
· Math Makes Sense 9 Textbook, Pearson
· Notebook & Folder
· Calculator
· Pencils, pens, erasers, etc
· Geometry Set
Classroom expectations:
· Everyone is expected to be on time for class
· Everyone is expected to bring the required materials to class
· Everyone is expected to treat everyone with respect in the class AT ALL TIMES
Lates and Absences:
· If you miss a class for any reason, you are responsible to come to the teacher the next day you are back and find out what you missed. You will be responsible to complete any missed work or labs done during your absence.
Tests and Assignments
· Tests will be announced with at least one week prior notice. If you are absent for a test or quiz, you will be expected to write a make-up test the next class you are back. Students may re-write a test or quiz to raise their mark, but only to a maximum of 65%. Re-writes will take place every Friday at 11:30am or 12:00pm depending on the P.E Plus schedule.
Academic Integrity:
You should be very aware of what plagiarism is and make every effort to protect yourself and your work from any academic dishonesty. This includes:
· Copying someone else’s work, with or without their consent
· Allowing another student to copy someone else’s work
· Failing to reference sources properly
PLAGIARISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND WILL RESULT IN A MARK OF 0 FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.
Extra Help:
· Extra help is always available during lunch hour or by appointment with the teacher. If you are struggling with the course content you should get help immediately as concepts continue to build on each throughout the unit. It’s better to come for 5 or 10 minutes of help regularly throughout the course of a unit rather than trying to cram it all in just before a test.
